OCVA Awards

12 May 2016

On the 11th May 2016 our chairman and secretary were at the Town Hall in Oxford attending the Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action (OCVA) Awards ceremony.

Their presence was because Witney Talking News was shortlisted in the “Lifetime Achievement” category!

There was some very stiff competition in all categories and some very worthy causes represented and many dedicated volunteers too. Whilst we didn’t win, we are very proud to have been shortlisted in that category. It is testament to the very hard work of our volunteers that the voluntary sector in Oxfordshire should consider our achievement alongside some of the very large charities represented there.

Donation from Waitrose

1 April 2014

WTN Chairman, Peter Brading, receives a cheque from Waitrose Witney after WTN was chosen to be a Waitrose Community Matters beneficiary.

In its 35th year of recording, 2014, Witney Talking News was selected to be part of the Waitrose Community Matters scheme in their Witney store.

As a result, a cheque was received for the sum of £267.

Garden Party July 2013

From time to time we arrange social events to allow our volunteers and listeners to meet each other. In July 2013 we were honoured to play host to Lord Hurd of Westwell (former government Minister and Witney MP) as our guest speaker who fitted us in around a busy schedule of the launch of his latest book on Disraeli which he signed for many people at the event.
